As you know, if you are a long time reader, I’m not one to decorate for most of the holidays Christmas and the 4th of July are the ones I really go all out for. So it may come as a bit of surprise that I’m already decorating for Valentines day. I think it has a lot to do with not being able to decorate as much for Christmas this year. I really missed it, so I guess that Valentines day is the next best thing. Ok not really, but it’ll do.

This is a really easy craft/decoration that any skill level can pull of quickly.
I started with 1 1/2 inch bare blocks from (you guessed it) Pick Your Plum.
One set, I Mod Podged paper on 5 sides, on the front I added a rub-on transfer. For the other 4 I painted them with watered down red paint. I just added enough water to my brush to make the paint thin. This makes it easier to sand some of the paint back off. I left one of the red block alone no sanding or anything. The other three I sanded until I liked the way they looked. I then added the letters L – V- E. I traced the letters on the back of my peal and stick vinyl with a pencil and cut it out with scissors.
For the other set of blocks I painted them with a metallic silver paint. I didn’t sand them or anything I like the shinny on them. Then cut out my vinyl the same way for the letters i-u and added them on to the blocks.
Then came the cute little crocheted hearts. I wish I could say I came up with the pattern for them, but no. You can find the very easy to follow pattern from Salt for the Spirit here. For the larger light purple one I just did a round of single crochet in each stitch (after I finished the pattern) to make it larger. (I also used a thicker yarn for the larger one) Then I just tied them on the blocks. I think they are so sweet.
I didn’t glue the blocks together. I kind of like the blocks being off set like they are. You could of course glue them and make them strait it you wanted.
Have any of you started to decorate or craft for Valentines day? Or am I the only crazy one?
