Happy 2013, The New Word

Each year I like to chose a word that I keep in mind as I make goals and prepare for the coming year.  I also try to choose something that I can keep in mind as I go about my daily life.

Last year I chose the word “HEART”  here is what said about choosing my word last year.
“As mothers, wives, women. (if any men are reading this you have a part too) We are the HEART of the home.  Weather you are the president of a company, the president of the country, or the president of the PTA, as a women you (in large part) are the heart of your home.  When I am in a bad mood or feel down. That rubs off on the entire family.  When I am happy and joyful that too rubs off on the entire family.   I would like to work on strengthen the “HEART” of our home.  Also the “HEART” of each child.  They need encouraged  to find their own strengths and passions in life. “
I feel like I still need some work in this area, in honesty I think it is something that I will need to work on the rest of my life.  However having HEART as my word for the year it has help me keep in mind how I want my home to “feel”.

So, it’s a new year and time for a new word.  It took me longer this year to decide on a word for the new year. There are always so many things that need to be worked on, it can be hard narrowing it down to just one word.  I have decided that my word for 2013 will be Simple.

There are a few things I want to keep in mind this year that I feel go along with my word.   There are things that I know will make my life easier, simpler{however I don’t to them}.  I don’t make a weekly menu and shopping list. I don’t freeze meals or things to make meals ahead of time.  I don’t make lists for myself to accomplish everyday. I have always been more of a fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal.  But I think I’m going to try it a different way, try to come up with some better habits   So many easy little things that I could be doing to make my life easier, simpler, and more stress free.   I want to do the SIMPLE things that will make things run smoother in my home.  I also want to adopt this when it comes to the things we keep in our home, SIMPLE and uncluttered is better.

For New Years Eve this year JoePaul was at work and all the kids were asleep in bed by 9:00 p.m., and I was making my new SIMPLE sign.  I finished just after midnight, and have to say I seemed like the perfect way to ring in the new year.  It is a very simple craft just some vinyl cut on my Cricut and applied to a chalkboard cabinet door. I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve!  I also want to say thank you for another wonderful blogging year, it wouldn’t be nearing as fun without all of you along for the ride.

HAPPY 2013!!

  1. I love your word! 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the new year!

  2. love it!!

  3. Love the word “simple”! Just found your blog and am excited to follow it!

  4. I love your word choice. I tossed around “Simplify” as one of my options before I settled on “Purpose”. The intent is much the same as your thought process — to eliminate things that don’t have meaning (DECLUTTERING) and to be intentional with the things I bring into my life or the things I do. I can’t wait to see how your mantra works for you!

  5. Such a great theme for the new year! And a beautiful way to display it 🙂

  6. Like your word! Happy 2013!

  7. Great choice! We all could stand to simplify!

  8. Jill @ Create.Craft.Love. says:

  9. I always strive to keep things simple in so many parts of my life! Great choice, Kadie!

  10. Great choice, especially in these times of craziness. It’s always nice to go back to the simple things once in a while. I hope you have a wonderful year!

  11. I adore your word! I think we do too often make things harder for ourselves than it needs to be.

  12. Happy New Year to you too! Love the sign!
    Love, Olga
