Crocheted Raspberry Cowl Pattern

I have been working on this set for a while now. I was so excited when I found this slouchy hat pattern from Little Money Crochet. It’s a great pattern, easy to follow and works up pretty quickly.

I wanted to create a cowl with a lot of texture.  I call this the Raspberry Cowl because all the bumps remind me of a raspberry.  Please forgive the lovely photos of myself, I was the only one around to model the hat and cowl.  lol  A model I am NOT. 😉

Raspberry Cowel and Hat

I am quite pleased with the way both the hat and cowl turned out. This was my first attempt at a slouchy hat, I quite enjoyed it and plan on making a few more.

Raspberry Cowel2

I really enjoy this cowl as well. It works up quickly and is quite easy once you know the stitch.  One of my readers told me she couldn’t get video on her computer/phone and she was having a hard time finding a good photo tutorial of how to do a front post stitch I am going to do a step by step photo tutorial of how to create a front post double crochet.  If you prefer video I’ll have a video at the end of the of this post.

Start with your chain and row of half double crochets.  To make a front post half double crochet you will insert your hook into the next stitch like usual.

How to crochet a Front Post

Go behind the post, then out the next stitch.

How to make a front post crochet.

Yarn over your hook. {please don’t look at the broken nail and old polish}

Yarn over hook, front post.

Pull yarn over through the stitches. This creates three loops on the hook, just like a normal half double crochet.

pull through stitch

Yarn over your hook and pull through all three loops at the same time.  This finishes your front post half double crochet. Notice how it makes the post stand out a little, and seems back from the other stitches this is what you want.  To finish the stitch for this pattern you will do a half double crochet in the same stitch you came out of for the front post stitch.

Finish Stitch

The written out pattern is really simple.
