Christmas Stocking Hat Pattern Reveiw

I think that my love of yarn and crocheting may have turned into a obsession.  I have been crocheting up a storm the last two weeks.  I have mostly been making hats.  So, when Ashley from Cherished Bliss announced, on her facebook page, that she needed testers for a new stocking hat pattern I jumped at the chance. I just happened to have a little person the right size. Not to surprising, when I have so many little people.

Isn’t the hat adorable!?

The pattern was great.  It was very well written and easy to follow.  I made the 6-12 month pattern for Lotte.  She is a year old but has a slightly small head.  This hat fits her perfectly, she even leaves it on.  I was really surprised because I made he a hat two weeks ago that she rips off the second I put it on.

I followed the pattern just as written, the same hook size too.  For yarn I used Peaches and Creme in variegated red, green and white.  Sorry, I don’t know the name of the color.  The brim is Red Heart in Cherry Red.  The only change I made was to add a row of single crochet around the very bottom in white.  It didn’t need it to finish it off I just liked the contrast.  I did put a pom-pom on the hat (as the pattern says) however, Lotte wouldn’t stop chewing on it so, I took it back off. She loves anything fuzzy!

This pattern does have a front post double crochet and back post double crochet.  I had never heard of this stitch.  You-tube and google are fantastic to look up crochet stitches.  This is the You-Tube video I used.  It explains the stitch very well.

Once you know how to do it it is very easy.  This is the stitch that creates the ribbing on the band.
Overall the hat was very easy. I was able to finish it in one night.
The pattern includes sizes from newborn to adult.  I think it would be fun in Longhorn (college football team) colors. Or a Christmas card with everyone in the family wearing one would be great.

The pattern is in Ashley’s Etsy shop now. It is only $4 for all the sizes, how great is that?!

I will be linking up here.

I will also be linking up the the party’s on my party page.  Please check them out if you get the chance.

Thanks for hangin, out.

  1. Ha,…this is so adorable. And of course Lotte looks amazing in it. Growing up we had hats with the really long tails on them and loved them. We thought we were so cool. This turned out great – and you are turning into a crocheting machine.

  2. That hat looks great! I was talking to a friend the other day that is wanting to get a pattern like this. Now I know where to steer her. 🙂
