Can you give a smile?

In my opinion  there isn’t anything much better than seeing a huge smile on a child!  To watch a child grin, smile and laugh is one of life’s truest pleasures.  Unfortunately not all children are born with the ability to smile and laugh.  Luckily there are surgeries that can fix the cleft palate/lip that makes smiling, laughing, eating, and sometimes talking difficult. This is the most common birth defect affecting 1 in 700 babies born in the U.S., and every 3 minutes a baby is born with a cleft lip/pallet worldwide.

However there are families in the U.S. and around the world that are unable to afford the surgery necessary to help these beautiful children.

Operation Smiles is working to help those families get the funds for the much needed surgery.   “At Operation Smile, our medical volunteers provide safe, effective and free cleft lip and cleft palate repair surgery for children born all over the world. We are an international medical humanitarian organization dedicated to raising awareness of this life-threatening issue and providing lasting solutions that will allow children to be healed, regardless of financial standing, well into the future.
Wonderful companies like Campus Book Rentals donate to Operation Smiles with every book rented.  By the way if you are looking for college books, Campus Book Rentals has some amazing deals like this, textbook on sewing.

If you are looking for another way to donate Amy {of One Artsy Mama} has created a beautiful necklace and committed to donating $10 from each sales of this necklace to Operation Smiles.

You can find her shop here.  She is hoping to raise enough to fund a surgery.  Wouldn’t it be great to be a part of helping a child smile.

Thanks so much for stoppin’ by and haning’ out today.
