YAY!!!!!
I am totally obsessing over bunting lately. It just seems to shout summer to me. It is so festive and happy. I like happy things.
I can't remember where I saw this idea. I'm not sure if it was a Etsy shop or a blog. If any of you have seen this on another blog please leave the name in the comments so I can add it to the post.
So, I am sharing with you what I think would be a fantastic Mother's Day gift. The Bunting Dish Towel, its fast and so easy and it makes me happy. Maybe it would make you or a Mom you know happy too. {In case you are reading this Mom, you are not getting this for Mother's Day. Just wanted to clear that up}
Isn't it adorable.
Here's what you will need:
- Jumbo ric-rac
- Fabric {a fat quarter is plenty for one towel}
- Dish towel
- Pinking sheers (you don't have to use pinking sheers, normal scissors or a rotary cutter would work)
- Sewing machine
- Fabric pencil
I laid out my fabric, and with my ruler measured how big I wanted my bunting to be. Mark the size with a fabric pencil, then cut it out with the pinking sheers. I laid that first bunting over my fabric to measure my remaining bunting.
Then lay out the bunting on the towel pin it in place, then sew it down. I left my edges raw. They will fray some when you wash the towel. I like the frayed look......., or I just like that it is easier and faster. { I can't decide which.} Anyway, if you would like to turn your edges under so they wont fray go right ahead.
Then take your coordinating jumbo ric-rac pin it down to cover the tops of the bunting. Fold the ends of your ric-rac under so it wont fray. Then sew the ric-rac down.
That's it!! I think it took all of 15 minutes, It makes me smile every time it is hanging on the stove. Are you making your mom something for Mother's Day?
Thanks for stoppin' by and hangin' out.

Oh that is super cute. I keep meaning to get a nice pair of pinking shears and keep not doing it. I must get off my derriere and pin this. Very cute, Kadie.
What a fun design, it's so cheery! Great idea, Kadie! :)

super cute!
Great way to jazz up a plain towel!!!
so cute. I will have to try making some. Mom
That is really cute! Such a fun punch of color in the kitchen!
Nice job on the towel. I also have been wanting to make a towel embellished with a bunting. Super Fun. ;o) Smiles, Paula
I'm so doing this. I love bunting.
And you make it look so easy! Is it easy? It looks too pretty to be easy.
Narrow down the fabric by selecting the main fabric category -- usually linen or cotton. Linen is made from flax and is a high-end fabric that is durable and absorbent.
