I know there has been a lack of crafty posts this week. I wish I had a good excuse for you........, other than I just didn't feel like posting. But really that is all it is. I'm sure I'll find something to post about next week.
For today I am very excited to have a review and giveaway. Do you remember last week when I gave away a copy of "A Perfect Pet for Peyton"? I talked a little about "The 5 Love Languages", what an awesome martial book it is. Dr. Gary Chapman, the author of "The 5 Love Languages" has teamed up with Dr. Ross Campbell (an authority on parent-child relationships) to bring about the book "The 5 Love Languages of Children". This book is geared toward parents learning their child's love language and how to help their child feel truly loved.
While reading this book I keept my 5 children in mind. Some of them were a little harder to figure out which love language they spoke, others I picked up on very quickly. Lotte is still to small to really have one love language so she needs to feel them all most of the time. As a parent it is a little tiring thinking of how to help each one individually. But then I didn't become a parent for the relaxation.
I am really excited about applying the things I learned in the book to my pre-teen son. Those years that are so hard and awkward to get through. I am really hoping as I read the book again and again I will be able to ease his transition into adulthood. I feel like now have an edge that I didn't have before. A way of talking with my kids that no one, peer or adult, can change what I am telling my child. That I love them with everything that I have and ALWAYS will. I would keep this for myself so I can stop checking it out from the library, setting it aside and not reading it, finding out it is on hold for someone else and won't renew, being sad, checking it out again in a few months, setting it aside . . .

Okay well I am a book hoarder, but that aside - I read the original 5 love languages and that thing seriously changed the way I looked at all my relationships and helped so much to get more out of them. I can't wait to see what Dr. Chapman has to say specifically in regards to kids!
I did both with my original version, I kept mine and also gave a copy to a few close friends and my sister. If this moves me in the same way, you better believe this is going into my baby shower presents going forward. :)

Keep! I'm seeing more all the time how I've passed my OCD on to my boys and I wish so much that I knew how to halt it and turn the idea that anything less than perfection is a problem into messages of unconditional love instead!
