Crochet Camera Strap

I'm sure you most of you have seen the adorable ruffled camera straps.  The ones I have seen are so cute and are always said to be easy to make.  Almost every time I use my camera I think I have GOT to make me a cover.  My strap is so uncomfortable.  If you have a DSLR camera I'm sure you'll agree. Those straps are no fun or cute. It had gotten to the point that I wrap the strap around my my arm instead of my neck.  Even with all that I have never taken the time to sew one.  I don't know why.

Then the other day I stopped into one of my favorite Etsy shops Avery's Loft.  She had a crochet camera strap that is so cute!!
It had been sold and she didn't have anymore in her shop. What's a girl to do?  Pin it of course!!  I wondered on my pin if could make one my self.
I am going to act like a total dork here.  Bare with me!! Guess who commented on my pin.  Rachel Brown.  That's right,  the creative genius and crochet master behind Maybe Matilda (blog and etsy shop).  EEEEEKKKK, how cool is that?!  Yeah, I know I am a dork.  JP told me that too.

Guess what, she did figure it out. She has the tutorial on her blog.  Yes, I followed it and made my own.

I did have to make my beginning chain longer,  I have an older camera with a monster strap.  I also added a round of Treble Crochet for the 5th row.  And......,  made different flowers because I don't know how to do the magic ring,  yet.  Other than that it's the same.  It's easy to make and goes quickly.

It is 1,000% more comfortable! I kinda want to make me another one, ya know to coordinate with outfits.  I might do it......, if it didn't take the same amount of time to get the cover on the strap as it does to crochet it. What a pain!

Thanks for stoppin' by and hangin' out.

Oooh, I so want one. I have had a sewn camera strap on my list of projects but after that tote from hell, I might be copying your (and Rachel's) crocheted version. Definitely pinning.

I seriously can't get over how cute your camera strap is! I like yours and the colors you chose much more than mine :-) But isn't it so comfy? It's like a big cozy sweater on your neck. Ah, the power of Pinterest!!!
