They have to be good sugar cookies though. Have you ever had a really bad sugar cookie? I have, most of them I made myself. I love the Lofthouse Sugar Cookies. Love may not be a strong enough word. When I was pregnant with baby # 2 I would eat almost a box (6 very large cookies) a day. Please don't judge me to harshly. And in case you are wondering, yes I gained the appropriate 50...... ok, 70 pounds that go with eating all those cookies.
So, I have been looking for a very long time for a really great Sugar Cookie Recipe. I had kind of given up. Sugar Cookies can be tricky! The last several years we have left Santa different types of cookies. Per his request. Yes, my sugar cookies were bad enough that Santa himself asked me not to leave them any more. I found a good recipe so this year we left Santa sugar cookies again. The cookie part was pretty good but the frosting just. plain. BAD. So, I was off looking again.
And guess what, I FOUND IT!!! On pinterest (where else) I found Lofthouse Style Soft Sugar Cookies with the Buttercream Frosting!! Let me tell you these are THE sugar cookies!!
I wont ever make a different sugar cookie. And because homemade ALWAYS tastes better these are even better than the Lofthouse cookies. Then entire family agrees.
They are very soft and puff a little when you cook them.
I do have a tip to add if you make these. It says to lightly flour your surface when you roll these out. I would say to generously flour your surface and keep your dough very cool. The dough is pretty sticky! Also the frosting as written didn't frost all of the cookies the dough made. Maybe I just put a lot of frosting on my cookies. But I will double the frosting for sure next time.
I hope you will check out the recipe and give them a try.
Thanks for stoppin' by and hangin' out.

That looks like the perfect amount of frosting for my liking. And they remind me of Easter with the pretty pink and purple. What a nice thought. These look amazing, Kadie!!
Lofthouse cookies are THE best cookies in the world. I've found that Target makes some that are pretty close. They have little bite-sized ones. Awesome for giving you a taste, but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy to eat more than you should.
I love sugar cookies like this with all my heart. And I SERIOUSLY want 12 of them RIGHT NOW!
I am the same way...never able to find a good sugar cookie recipe. Actually, I have never found one other than the one my mom has always made. They are kind of hard but in a good way. We don't use frosting, just leave them plain. But...I never make them because they're a pain in the butt to make! (they have to sit in the fridge for a while and I'm way too impatient!) I will definitely give this recipe a try sometime! They look amazing!
Yes honey, you are your fathers daughter. I might have to try and make them for him. Love Mom
Hi Kadie. Your sugar cookies are so cute! I have had bad sugar cookies before too. This year we left santa chocolate chip, per his request :) Happy to be following you now!
I'm totally trying out this recipe!
Sugar cookies are the bane of my baking existence. They are so easy to screw up ( at least for me ).
I'll use your tips about the flour and frosting and hopefully mine will turn out! :)
Mmmm.. need one now. Good luck at Bacon Time.
