Photo Challange *Week 6*

This weeks photo Challenge was "low angle" photo.  I thought we could have a photo post in honor if this weeks giveaway.

 Waiting for the bus.
 My two buddy's!

Ok, so these two photos have nothing to do with the photo challenge.  But I missed this weeks Wordless Wednesday.  Everyday this is what I see when I turn around from getting the older kiddos off the school bus.

I don't know the name of these trees they are in my in-laws front yard.  I love the colors of the flowers.  (This is the photo I am linking up to the challenge this week.)

This is the HUGE pine tree to the side of my house.  Have I ever told y'all that I basically live in the forest? Yeah,  LOTS of trees!

I know that this was my model last week but I couldn't resist!!
He was going across the monkey bars and he couldn't get all the way without some help.  Mom to the rescue! Of course I had to snap a few photos before I got him down.  He thought it was quite funny. I would love to have a photo of what we looked like.

This one is my favorite of him.  Isn't he handsome!

Thanks for hangin' out.

I am linking up to the great photo challenge over at A Step In the Journey!  Come join in.

I also linked up to this fun photo swap.  You should check it out if you get a chance!

Katie Evans Photography Book Review and Giveaway

This giveaway is now CLOSED. Thank You to all that entered!

I know I have been MIA for the last couple days.  I have a good excuse, really I do.  I have been reading.

I have followed Katie Evans and her blog for quite sometime. I was more excited than I can say when I won her book! I have been reading as much as I could since then.

Not only is her book beautiful, it is the most uncomplicated easy to follow photography book I have ever read.
I caught myself nodding along completely engrossed in the book.  Her personality shines though, almost like you have someone there talking to you.

I truly feel this is a book I will turn to over and over again. She covers all the basics from choosing what equipment to use, to using natural lighting, to editing your photo.  And of course, all of the steps in between.

Already, I have seen improvement in my photos!  I am happy to say that my camera is off the automatic setting.  That's right, I am shooting in manual.  Which is a big deal for me.  I have had my camera close to a year and I was still using the automatic settings. There was a time I didn't think I would ever turn past the automatic settings.  I read the manual , and other blogs and books.  For what ever reason they didn't click with me.  I now feel confident in switching my shutter speed, and know the different modes.  While I still need tons of practice I am positive that from what I learned in Katie's book I will continue to get better.

In short I LOVED the book!

Want a peak into the  book?

Katie also has a great blog.  She gives tons of tips about photography and photo editing.

This post, about taking photos during a craft session with her kiddos is my one of my favorites.

Just look at the eye candy she has goin' on.  These are some of my favorite photos from her blog.

Ok, enough talking I am sure you are all ready for the giveaway.

Katie is giving one of you an ebook.  Also, because she is so kind she is giving all of you $4 off her e-book.  Discount code is sevenalive and is good for the next two weeks.

Photo Challenge *Week 5*

The Photo Challenge this week was to shoot from a high angle. I kind of struggled with this one. I couldn't think of what to do.

So in the end I climbed up the slide and and while Oak threw the ball at me  took some photos.  It is one of his favorite games. He throws the ball up to me and I roll it back down the slide to him.

I may have been hit in the head a few times because I was to busy taking the photo.  But it was worth it to get a good shot of him.

I will be linking up tot he Photography Challenge at a Step in the Journey.

Thanks for hangin' out.

Teaser Reveal *Photo # 4*

We are finishing up on the Teaser Post.  This is the last project from that post that I have finished.  Here is the photo I showed in the Teaser.

I am sure some of you guessed it.   Here is the finished project.

It is a quilt top for Abba's bed.  I have been working on this one since Lotte was born.  If you are keeping up from the last post that was 11 months ago.

It didn't need to take me that long it is not a very hard pattern I just got lazy busy.   I am glad my Mom came this summer or it may have taken me another 11.

I saw this on Pinterest a while ago.  I thought it was appropriate!
I don't know the real name of this quilt I call it the Crazy Nine Patch.  It is pretty easy all you do is make a nine patch square.  Then cut it in 4ths and sew it back together again.  Making the pinwheel in the middle.

One square looks like this.

I haven't decided how to get it quilted.  Do any of you know a quilting pattern that you think would look good on it?  It is kind of hard because it is a busy quilt and I don't want to make it to crazy.  I was thinking kind of a small stipple.

I love, love, love the way it turned out.  It is fun and colorful yet still girlie.  Anyway I am glad that it is done and I can check it off my list.

*Thank you to all of you who let me know the name of the quilt pattern.  It is the Disappering 9 Patch.  Thank you all so much!*

Thanks for hangin' out.

Teaser Reveal * Photo # 2*

I have gotten a little off track this week, but I am finally ready to show you what the second picture in the Teaser Post is.

Have you forgotten the Teaser Post? Or maybe you are new to the "double wide".  I made a small post about a few of the projects I was working on.  You can go here to read the post.  This one of the photos I showed for the teaser.

And here is the full project.

It is a romper dress for 11 month old Miss Lotte Lou.  I picked up the pattern at a yard sale for $.10. (love me some yard sales!)   I originally  bought this fabric to make a skirt for me.  It ended up that I didn't have enough fabric.  So I made this instead.  I do love the way it turned out but if I make another one (which I plan on doing) I will make the pocket stand out more.

So here is where I get to show you how well it fits and how cute my baby is in it.

We all tried to help her, but she was NOT in the mood.  Even with her older brother helping her stand.  At least in this one you can see the dress.

Do you want to see the look she gives me when I get the camera out?  The second I say smile this is what I get.

I know its blurry but it is still funny, and to me cute.  And in case you were wondering these are the best photos out of 30.  So we took the dress off to finish taking photos.

Instead of making buttons I used snaps for closures.  I did a decorative stitch around the neck and armholes.

And the same stitch around the pocket.

For the first time making a dress I think it turned out great.

Have you entered my letterhead giveaway from UPrinting.com?  You still can click here to enter.
